  10.        This release note documents the Netscape SuiteSpot FastTrack
  11.        Server product version _3._0_3.  This product allows users to
  12.        setup and admininister a World Wide Web HTTP site for
  13.        serving HTML documents.

  15.        This version of the FastTrack Server includes performance
  16.        enhancements made by Silicon Graphics, as part of the
  17.        Everest Initiative conducted in partnership with Netscape
  18.        Communications Corporation. This version of the FastTrack
  19.        Server includes the Administration Server 3.52, which is
  20.        Y2000 compliant.

  56.        (the _r_e_l_n_o_t_e_s subsystem), you can view the release notes on
  57.        your screen.

  77.        If you have a graphics system, select ``Release Notes'' from
  78.        the Help submenu of the Toolchest. This displays the
  79.        _g_r_e_l_n_o_t_e_s(1) graphical browser for the online release notes.

  84.        If you do not have a graphics system, you can use the
  85.        _r_e_l_n_o_t_e_s command.  Refer to the _r_e_l_n_o_t_e_s(1) reference page

  88.        1.3  _C_e_r_t_i_f_i_c_a_t_e__S_e_r_v_i_c_e_s
  89.  
  90.        The Netscape SuiteSpot FastTrack Server requires a digitally
  91.        signed certificate to operate in secure mode.  To obtain a
  92.        signed certificate you will need to submit a certificate
  93.        request form to a Certificate Authority, a third-party
  94.        organization that issues certificates.  Silicon Graphics has
  95.        contracted with Verisign, Inc. and may contract with other
  96.        Certificate Authorities in the future.

  98.        A certificate consists of a ppppuuuubbbblllliiiicccc kkkkeeeeyyyy and a ddddiiiissssttttiiiinnnngggguuuuiiiisssshhhheeeedddd
  99.        nnnnaaaammmmeeee.  During the certificate request process you will
  100.        generate a ppppuuuubbbblllliiiicccc kkkkeeeeyyyy////pppprrrriiiivvvvaaaatttteeee kkkkeeeeyyyy pair and you will choose a
  101.        distinguished name.

  103.        Note:  You only need to generate one key pair.  If you
  104.               generate another key after submitting a request to
  105.               Verisign, the keys will not match and you will
  106.               overwrite your previous key.  You will then have to
  107.               resubmit the key request to Verisign
  108.

  114.        The following items are the minimum required to complete a
  115.        certification request form and establish a Distinguished
  116.        Name:

  118.          Country = Two Letter Country Code (contact the Certificate Authority
  119.                  for countries other than U.S.)

  121.          State = State/Province (do not abbreviate)
  122.  
  123.          Organization = Business/Organization Name

  125.          Common Name = URL of the serve you are requesting a certificate for.

  143.        Finally, the certificate request form will ask for the email
  144.        address of a valid Certificate Authority.  A complete list
  145.        of valid Certificate Authorities can be found below.  To
  146.        find out more about submitting a certificate request see the
  147.        section "Enabling SSL encryption" in the chapter
  148.        "Understanding encryption and SSL" of the FastTrack Admin
  149.        Guide.  A webjumper called FasttrackAdminGuide exists to
  150.        take you to the book and is accessable on the Web Tools and
  151.        Applications Icon Catalog pages.

  153.        Once you have submitted the certificate request and any
  154.        additional documentation required by the Certificate
  155.        Authority, you can generally expect to receive a unique
  156.        digitally signed certificate in approximately three business
  157.        days.  This allows for an approval process that will help
  158.        protect you, your organization, and the certificate
  159.        authority.  You will receive your signed certificate by
  160.        electronic mail.  You will need to establish adequate
  161.        precautions to maintain the integrity of the signed
  162.        certificate and your private key.  To find out more about
  163.        how to install the certificate, see the section "Using
  164.        encryption and  SSL" in the FastTrackAdminGuide which is
  165.        found in the Web Tools and Applications Icon Catalog pages.

  179.        The Netscape SuiteSpot FastTrack Server allows a Netscape
  180.        Navigator or Netscape Communicator to authenticate the
  181.        server and subsequently encrypt any information between the
  182.        Netscape browser and the Netscape SuiteSpot FastTrack
  183.        Server.  This allows secure communications across the
  184.        Internet.  As a server owner, you should be responsible for
  185.        maintaining the integrity of the UNIX machine and operating
  186.        environment that your Netscape server products are using.
  187.        There are many sources to help you understand all of the
  188.        issues involved with "securing" the UNIX operating system
  189.        from unwanted intruders.  Using a Netscape browser, you can
